Meet our New Assistant Hospital Chaplain
When God calls a person to be ordained within the Anglican community, there are numerous pathways through which they can express Christ's ministry. Full-time stipendiary, volunteering within the context of the local church or, as I currently do, having a regular job to pay the mortgage while also volunteering within a neighbouring parish – namely as Self Supporting Minister. So over these last five years I have been a community support worker for those living with MS and autism while serving the community of St Mary Thorpe. However, just over three months ago a member of the congregation spotted a job advertisement for an assistant chaplain to help out at St Peter's Hospital.
Now, although I had been volunteering as a prison chaplain for a couple of years, never before had I prayerfully discerned if God was guiding me into this whole new world of being a 'shop window' of the Church for those who found themselves spending time in a hospital. Clearly this was all meant to be, as it enabled me to rekindle a working relationship and friendship with my former academic tutor, who had helped me through my training: Laurence Gamlen from Lyne Parish Church, fellow clergy member of Runnymede Deanery and Head of the Pastoral and Spiritual Care at St Peter's Hospital. So now I keep myself busy by being a community support worker in the mornings and spend my afternoon at the hospital.
This role at St Peter’s Hospital takes you on a

Deanery Term Limits – The Outcome
Update on the matter discussed in Runnymede Deanery Synod June 2019 General Synod in July 2021 passed the Amending Resolution to the Church Representation Rules to remove the term limits for lay members of deanery synods. The Amending Resolution needed a two thirds majority in each of the three Houses and this was achieved. The Amending Resolution, once passed through Parliament, will mean that APCMs will have the flexibility to impose term limits of variable lengths according to local circumstances – 2, 3 or 4 terms etc. The default will be no limit at all. Term length remains at three years.

How Clergy (and the parish) Thrive at New Haw Here at All Saints, New Haw, during the summer we started some keep fit classes for the young and the ‘not so young’, the fit and the ‘not so fit’. We have also begun to build some web pages with info on healthy living, tasty low carb and healthy recipes and also menu planning ideas. Additionally we’ve added our weekly exercises from the classes for people to follow at home.
The evening classes are HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) and the daytime classes are called LIFT (Low Impact Functional Training). We have a fully qualified fitness instructor who specialises in training for seniors and those with limited mobility and so she can run classes for just about every level of fitness. The exercises we use are

Meet Our Deanery Eco Church Champion
Ben Niblett is our Runnymede Deanery Eco Church Champion – co-leader (with Climate Champion Clem Jones) of the Deanery Greenery network in Runnymede. He’s kindly provided us with a little pen profile of himself:
“I'd always cared about the environment and about poverty and injustice, and I knew climate change was important, but it wasn't till I started working as a campaigner at Tearfund in 2005 that I realised how urgent it was and that it was the biggest issue of poverty of our times. I'm still at Tearfund, now coordinating an international campaigning movement called Renew Our World. I love Eco Church because it's so holistic, looking at each part of church life, and because it's flexible enough to work for churches of
